Artist in residence
Kaitlyn has been an artist in residence at MIY Ceramics since 2016.
A native of Miami, she realized at an early age that she wanted to immerse herself in the field of art.
Following her dream, she attended the Design and Architecture Senior High of Miami. Continuing to Florida Atlantic University, Kaitlyn earned her Bachelor of Arts Degree in Studio Art with a concentration on graphic design and Ceramics.
Her scope of talents ranges from drawing and painting to sculpting and potter’s wheel and more. Kaitlyn, who struggles from bouts of anxiety, has learned turning to artwork can calm her mind, and help her focus. Keeping that in mind, she has a warn and encouraging approach to her teaching. This is a struggle that helps her in dealing with both adults and with kids. She truly comprehends the benefits of creating something from nothing no matter what their artistic experience.

After graduating FAMO university of Sao Paulo, Brazil, Jacquie went on to teaching different skills. She first focused on languages and classical music then moved on to her love of the creative arts. Working with clay became her passion while mosaics captured her imagination. Jacquie joined MIY Ceramics Studio in 2015 and continued to share her unique talent in hand building and mosaics. She is always looking to explore new and resourceful ways to create wonderfully innovative works of art.
Jacquie excels in communicating her extensive knowledge to her students as to how to create beautiful objects that are both decorative and useful.
