Kaitlyn Coughran

Artist in residence

Kaitlyn has been an artist in residence at MIY Ceramics since 2016.

A native of Miami, she realized at an early age that she wanted to immerse herself in the field of art.

Following her dream, she attended the Design and Architecture Senior High of Miami. Continuing to Florida Atlantic University, Kaitlyn earned her Bachelor of Arts Degree in Studio Art with a concentration on graphic design and Ceramics.

Her scope of talents ranges from drawing and painting to sculpting and potter’s wheel and more. Kaitlyn, who struggles from bouts of anxiety, has learned turning to artwork can calm her mind, and help her focus. Keeping that in mind, she has a warm and encouraging approach to her teaching. This is a struggle that helps her in dealing with both adults and kids. She truly comprehends the benefits of creating something from nothing no matter what their artistic experience.
