MIY's first Raku event at our West Hollywood Local is now happening  on Sunday, February 11th 2024 from 10am to 4pm.  

This Raku event is reserved for our esteemed MIY Artist Members however, individuals intrigued by the Raku process are warmly invited to attend and witness the fascinating technique.

Spectators are welcomed!

Raku firing stands out as one of the most natural approaches in pottery, engaging all of nature's elements—earth, fire, air, and water. From crafting the pieces with earth to the unique process of placing it in a reduction chamber kiln and subsequently immersing it in water, the cold water arresting the firing process, Raku embodies the harmonious collaboration of these elements.

A interesting tidbit about Raku is that its name translates to

"Happiness in the accident."

*Paid participants are reminded to have bisque-fired pots prepared for this unique firing experience.

& paid the RAKU firing fee.
