After School Program- Elementary (Tues.)

Description

This course takes place on Tuesday afternoons from 3pm- 4:30 pm for four consecutive weeks. This program is for children ages 7-10. Week 1: Tic-Tac-Toe Board Game Using 1.5 pounds of clay, students will be able to: * Create their own custom tic-tac-toe board from a slab * Create coils and use them to form walls and other accessories on their boards * Understand how to attach clay to clay using the score and slip method * Create board pieces by hand/freestyle or by using the clay molds * Glaze their pieces Week 2: Mosaic Picture Frames Using mosaic tiles, students will be able to: * Create a custom border for a picture frame * Understand the concept of using mosaic tiles and how to apply them Week 3: Glass Night Light Using a 3-inch clear sheet of glass, students will be able to: * Create a custom night light using pre-cut glass pieces * Understand how to create their own image and apply glass pieces to achieve the desired look * Understand what full fuse and tack fuse means with glass fusing * Learn the different types of glass used in glass fusing Week 4: Coil Pencil Holder Using 1.5 pounds of clay, students will be able to: * Use the coil method to build a tall cylinder shape * Understand and use the score and slip technique to build and attach clay pieces together * Understand how to shape their pieces with coils. For example, making a piece round, narrow, wide, etc. * Glaze their pieces
